Many visitors and students came to the public opening lecture for the Master Course Urban Agglomerations on Wednesday, January 21st, 2009, attracted by the international renowned lecturers, Dr. Dr. h.c. Pierre Laconte and Professor Jeff Kenworthy PhD.
Before the lectures began Prof. Dr. Jörg Reymendt, Dean of the Faculty 1, opened the event, followed by the President of the Fachhochschule Frankfurt am Main, Dr. Detlev Buchholz, who welcomed the lecturers and visitors and gave a short speach, introducing the topics.
Prof. Dr. Michael Peterek, Programme director of Urban Agglomerations, introduced both lecturers and gave an overview of the Master Course.
Mr. Pierre Laconte spoke about:
Global Trends of Urbanisation and the Challange of Sustainability: Personal and Collective Strategies.
Mr. Jeff Kenworthy spoke about:
Eliminating Traffic through Reallocationg Public Space: A Critical Challenge for Sustainable Cities.
At the end of the lectures there was a reception with snacks and drinks. For a couple of hours the guests, students and lectures got together and where able to discuss the topics in detail.
