Bachelor of Arts in International Business Administration (B.A.)
Internationalisation ranks prominently among our university’s objectives. The new Bachelor Programme in International Business Administration is a further step towards achieving the ambitious objectives set by the university. The new concept adds an attractive and flexible international programme to University of Applied Sciences’ existing portfolio of successful Bachelor and Master programmes. Alumni will be well qualified for management roles with international enterprises and institutions. Students acquire an exceptionally high level of language competencies and intercultural experience. A solid education in core areas such as business administration, macroeconomics and law is complemented by insights into political, legal and economic factors relevant in an international context. Additionally, students will be honing their communication skills while learning how to deal with cultural differences. The Bachelor Programme in International Business Administration is a seven semester programme. It includes an International Year taught in English as well as a mandatory internship which students are encouraged to complete in an international context. At the same time, the programme emphasizes an education in a multinational learning environment. The flexible programme provides a variety of options for German applicants to collaborate and study with students from different countries – by spending the International Year either at home, together with incoming students from partner universities, or at a partner university abroad. During their stay in Frankfurt, international students will have the opportunity to study with German students as well as with other incoming students from our various partner universities. Domestic and international students who successfully pass the International Year and the internship at the host university may be entitled to receive – in addition to their home university’s Bachelor degree - a Bachelor degree from the host university (Double Degree programme) if such an agreement exists between both universities. Course Structure In the first three semesters students learn the fundamentals and principles in disciplines relevant to business administration. Semesters 3 and 4 are taught in English. The courses in semester 4 are dedicated to international subjects; therefore, they are designed exclusively for the international programme. The internship is scheduled for semester 5. Students are encouraged, but not obliged to seek a placement outside their home country. In subsequent semesters, students select one out of seven specialisations. Areas of specialisation include:
Three electives may be selected from the following:
Students conclude their studies with a bachelor thesis and an oral examination. In the oral examination, students defend the findings of their Bachelor thesis. The Bachelor in International Business Administration degree from the University of Applied Sciences Frankfurt am Main signifies that, just as with our well-reputed domestic programme, the graduate has received a broad and in-depth business education. Admission requirements To be admitted, prospective students will have to provide evidence of sufficient command of English. This will usually be proven by passing the IELTS with a score of at least 6.0 or the TOEFL with a score of at least 80 or a comparable test proving level B2 (gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen für Sprachen). Another option for students who have completed a German school education is the completion of a „Leistungskurs“ in English with a grade of at least 3.0. Partner Universities Contacts and partner universities are in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Gent, Lyon, Manchester, Helsinki, Cracow, Budapest and Wisconsin/USA. For their exchange semesters, students will be assigned to partner universities according to demand and availability. |
