High-Integrity Systems

High-Integrity systems are complex, software controlled systems, which, in the event of failure, have a high impact on humans, the environment, organizations and society. They come in two flavours:

Safety critical systems (SCS) have a direct influence on the life and health of humans and the environment. Examples can be found in all industrial areas, e.g. aerospace,  the automotive sector, railway and marine systems, power generation, medical technology, SCADA, etc.

Mission critical systems (MCS) possess a high criticality with respect to the functioning of an organization, e.g. ERP, CRM.

The M.Sc. programme covers principles, methods and techniques to analyze, design, implement and test high-integrity systems. The 4-semester programme is composed of lectures, lab exercises, seminars and an industrial project during the third term. It is concluded with a Master’s thesis on an advanced research topic.

Admission to the Master programme High-Integrity Systems requires a first university or college degree in computer science / informatics from an accredited tertiary institution. Degrees from outside of Germany will be evaluated according to German university education standards. Your grades should be clearly above average: at least equivalent to the German grade ‘gut’, i.e. 2 on a scale of 1 (excellent) to 5 (fail). Language requirement is English, because all lectures are given in English.
