The Presidential Committee
The Presidential Committee is responsible for directing the university affairs and for initiating and supporting the instiution's development. It consists of

Dr Detlev Buchholz (Computer Science), elected for a six years period
The Vice President Academic Affairs
Prof Dr Eva-Maria Ulmer (Health and Social Work), elected for a three years period
The Vice President IT
Prof Dr Ulrich Schrader (Computer Science), elected for a three years period
The Chancellor
Dr Reiner Frey (Laws), appointed

The University Council
The council's role is to give support and advice with respect to the university's development, especially with respect to the demands of the professional and social environment. The council members are eminent persons from outside the university.
The Enlarged Presidential Committee
This advisory body consists of the Presidential Committee and the Deans of Faculty. Financial issues, human resources development, orgasnisational and administrative aspects are on the agenda of the meetings.
The Academic Senate
The Academic Senate deals with research, teaching and study-related questions of the university. The members are 9 professors, 5 students, 1scientific staff, 2 admin staff. The President chairs the Academic Senate. Members of the Presidential Committee take advisory positions.

The Faculties
The faculties are directed by the Dean's Committee (Dean, Vice Dean, Dean Academic Affairs) and the Faculty Council.
The Commissioners
Commissionars take advisory roles for certain subject areas such as gender issues, problems related to disabilities, privacy matters, security and sports.
